A BIT ABOUT THE CHARITY BLOG

Each year, me and my wife Hazel have decided to help a Charity, by donating 25p every goal we see at the matches we attend. Over the years, people and clubs have also donated as we have visited the grounds and we have raised over £2,300 in the 3 seasons we have run the Blog.
During the 2014-15 season, we are supporting "Support Dogs" who train Dogs to transform lives of people with Autism and other disabilities. So if you would like to make a donation(no matter how small) and you see me at a match, please come up to me or Hazel, we would be very grateful. All Donators will get a mention on the blog.

GREEN DANCES PAST THE SAMBA

Notts Senior League
Division Two
FC SAMBA 1 ASPLEY PARK FC 4

Well I was going to Bilborough United on Saturday but the change of venue, saw me choose going to Eagle Valley for the second time in 5 days, but this time to watch a match on the outside pitch, as FC Samba met newcomers to the NSL Aspley Park FC.

On arrival, I found there was a NSL match going on the match Arnold Town pitch, Arnold Town Reserves v another newcomer to the NSL Watnall Athletic FC, so thought if it does sprinkle with rain, at least I can go and watch another match under the stands. As happens the afternoon stayed fine.

FC Samba nearly folded at the end of last season and Richard Ranshaw ex Grantham Town man has taken over the reins, but only had a squad of 12 players to pick from yesterday, whilst their visitors came into the game having drawn 1 and lost 1.

The game kicked off and was fairly even for the first ten minutes with both sides creating chances, the closest coming when Richard Francis cross shot beat the keeper and landed on the roof of the net, whilst at the other end, the home keeper tipped the ball round the post for a corner.

On 12 minutes, the visitors took the lead, from a corner on the right, SEAN GREEN rose with the keeper and beat him first with a header to give Aspley a 1-0 lead. This seemed to spur the newcomers on and after 32 minutes SEAN GREEN doubled his total and his sides total to 2-0 after he had beaten the offside trap and pushed the ball past the oncoming keeper.

Just before halftime, the ball came out of play and knocked one of the visiting subs over, which most folks thought was funny as he didnt go down hard, later in the half I saw the Aspley manager bandaging the subs ankle.

The Second Half kicked off and FC Samba raised their game and after 53 minutes were awarded a free kick from 20 yards out, to which TOM CRISP hit in to the corner of the net to bring the homesters back in with a shout of the game.

This really was the best part of the game for Samba as they pressed forward, but it left holes at the back and Aspley could well have extended their lead when the Samba keeper made a double save and then Green was denied his hat trick when cleared off the line.

After 80 minutes, SEAN GREEN finally got his hat trick as he found himself clear and there was only going to be one conclusion and that was he was going to bury the ball in to the back of the net.

Samba heads seemed to go down at this point and the visitors broke away again in the 83rd minute and NICO DEVIBO got himself on the scoresheet.

Must mention that I felt the referee Ash Allen had a very good game and let the game flow when he could and bought it back if there was no advantage.
